Origine et devenir de la matière organique des sédiments de mangroves de Guyane française. - Précurseurs, Environnements de dépôt, Processus de décomposition et Relation avec les métaux lourds –

Abstract : The particularity of the mangroves of French Guiana results from their association with the mobile mud belt developing from the Amazon River to Orinoco River. This tropical coastal zone is characterised by intense and rapid modifications of the shoreline. Two issues were developed: organic matter (OM) accumulation and decay in solid and dissolved phase, and its relationships with the mineral content.
Our results allow to:
- determine relationships between sediment geochemistry and external parameters;
- determine relationships between mangrove forest evolution and OM composition;
- identify processes of OM decomposition as well as decomposition products;
- determine the heavy metal content and the influence of OM decay and redox processes on their behaviour.
