Coherence et localisation dans les systemes d'electrons fortement correles

Abstract : Various topics were considered here: correlated fermions systems, mesoscopic devices and quantum magnetism. The global framework of the dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) was followed throughout, leading first to various predictions that we confirmed against recent experimental work: charge transport in kappa-BEDT and photoemission in TaSe2. In order to simplify the standard theoretical approaches, we have developed a slave rotor technique, which was successfully applied to many aspects of the Mott transition (orbital effects, magnetic fluctuations, screening), as well as to the study of nanostructures, allowing a unified description of Coulomb blockade phenomena and coherent transport due to the Kondo effect. Finally, we extend the DMFT approach to the problem of the quantum critical point in heavy fermion materials, and to the question of spin liquid behavior on the Kagomé lattice.
