Stratégies d'optimisation par la méthode des Plans d'Expériences, et Application aux dispositifs électrotechniques modélisés par Eléments Finis

Abstract : The work presented in this memoir deals with the application of the Experimental Design Method (EDM) to the study and the optimisation of electrotechnical devices. The finite element modelling stands as the privileged analysis tool, giving the virtual prototypes of the studied devices. The EDM, introduced in the first chapter, is an homogenous set of tools and algebraic statistical methods, aiming to establish and analyse the relations between the studied variables (responses) and their supposed variation sources (factors). This analysis can be qualitative to determine the influent factors, or quantitative in order to establish the response variations according to the significant factors. The modelling operation is always fundamental. It is deduced at the end of series of simulations, defined by experimental designs (ED). The second chapter presents several algorithms using exclusively designs of experiments, for the modelling of the responses and for the research of optimal conditions. Particular aspects appear then, like the possibility to reuse experiments between designs. The virtual nature of each experiment justifies the creation and the development of an optimisation manager, in order to automate, and to make easier, the application of the EDM as well as the optimisation strategies using ED, from computer simulations. The third chapter presents the main characteristics of this new tool: Sophemis. Finally, the fourth chapter applies the different developments shown in the precedent parts, by the application of the optimisation algorithms to the study of three electrotechnical systems. The first one is a brushless permanent magnet motor, the second one deals with the 22th benchmark of the T.E.A.M. Workshop, and the last one is related to a linear eddy current braking system, designed for railway applications.
