Contributions au traitement optique du signal et aux ondes élastiques guidées

Abstract : This document synthetizes my post-PhD research. Since the beginning of my PhD work in 1992 until last 1999, I have been involved in optical signal processing. Since then, I have switched to the area of microsonics, and more precisely of guided and surface elastic waves. I present my contributions to both these domains followed by perspectives for the coming years. From 1995, in the continuity of my PhD research, I have been interested in optical correlation. I have been involved mainly in theoretical aspects of optical correlation and in practical means to implement optimal solutions inside existing correlators. I have also studied novel applications of spatial light modulators for optical signal processing, emphasizing on programmable imaging systems and a wavefront scanner. Gradually, I have turned my attention to ultrashort laser pulse shaping, a domain where the control of the temporal pulse shape is of considerable interest. I have been involved in the control and the measurement of ultrashort pulse dispersion, and also in theory of negative group delays for optical signals. In the domain of microsonics, my research has been oriented towards the understanding of the propagation of electro-elastic waves in microstructures (notably in piezoelectric media).
