Construction de définitions / construction de concept : vers une situation fondamentale pour la construction de définitions en mathématiques

Abstract : Our research is interesting in situations of definitions-construction (called SDC); it plays a leading role in the usual mathematical activity of a researcher in which a dialectic exists between the concept in construction as well as its definition which is constructed, too. Yet ... the SDC are missing in teaching. The complexity and the lack of the study of such situations led us to develop theoretical tools (triple point of view : mathematical, epistemological and didactical one) in order to build, to implement such situations in classroom and to analyze them. The theoretical presentation of these tools and a typology of SDC represent the first part of this thesis. The second part relates the didactical researches on the concept of definition. The analysis of three SDC constitutes the third part of this thesis. These SDC were realized with students in the first university year (mathematical concepts at stake: tree, generation, minimality, discrete straight line).
