Mesure et prévision de l'évolution des endommagements dans les composites stratifiés

Abstract : For a few years, a lot of studies deal with the «Structure Health Monitoring». Most of these studies relate to the measurement of damages. If these measurements make it possible to determine the structure state, they don’t make it possible to know if the damage is acceptable or if a repair is needed. Thus, we have to predict damage evolution to carry out an effective monitoring system. On the other hand, modelling alone is not sufficient too. Indeed, in the case of classical use loadings, static and fatigue, uncertainties on boundary conditions and model imperfections are not negligible. We have to readjust the models with periodical measurements. In this work, we propose to realise a complete monitoring system for the laminates made of woven plies. This system gathers the measurement of diffuse damage (micro-decoherences between fibres and matrix) and the prediction of its evolution. We proposed to detect the delaminated zones and the laminate fractures too. The impedance measurement of a piezoelectric transducer is used to characterise a delamination. To do that a electromechanical model based on laminate theory is developed for delaminated beam structures. We validate this model with experimental results, then we use it to characterise a delamination by solving an inverse problem. The impedance technique is used to determine a level of diffuse damage too. More precisely, we study the influence of this kind of damage on resonance frequencies and damping. An ultrasonic method based on the Lamb’s waves propagation is used to detect macro damages (laminate fractures and delaminations). A confrontation between finite elements simulations and experimental results allows us to understand phenomena relative to the interaction between waves and damage.
