Cartographie de la pollution atmosphérique en milieu urbain a l'aide de données multisources

Abstract : Seven years after the air quality law in 1996, all cities of 100 000 inhabitants or more in France acquired an air quality surveillance network. According to some studies, the air quality effects on human health and on the environment subsist despite an improvement in air quality. It becomes necessary to determine more precisely the risks related to air pollution, through a better knowledge of pollutant distribution. Analysis of the existing tools reveals that no information about pollutant distribution is available in urban area and with a high resolution. However these tools are complementary for a good comprehension of the spatial distribution of the pollutants. From this analysis, we proposed a method of fusion of all information for a better cartography of the air pollution. The methodology is based on the possibility to define structures of a pollutant concentration field, called "typical field". The mapping is carried out by increasing the number of points and by using interpolating techniques. This study is undertaken in three steps. The first one relates to the characterization of the measuring stations and of the whole city. Landsat satellite images, ground based measurements, emission cadastral and a geographical data base are used to define the "identity cards". The second step uses those identity cards to locate "pseudostations", places of the city presenting attributes similar to a measuring station. Finally the last step focuses on the estimation of the concentration in pollutants by remote sensing. Pseudostations become virtual stations. The method is original in the direction where it uses multisource data. In the long term, it would perform a coherent mapping on every scales.
