Polymérisation par ouverture de cycle de l' e-caprolactone dans le dioxyde de carbone supercritique

Abstract : This study describes the performing of the synthesis of poly( -caprolactone) in supercritical CO2 (scCO2). Using isopropoxide of aluminum, yttrium or lanthanum as initiators, poly( - caprolactone) was synthesized in scCO2. Yields in polymer varied tremendously depending on the initiators and the reaction conditions. In order to better understand the polymerization process, a more thorough study was initiated on the thermodynamic state of the medium and the microscopic interactions. Thus, the demixing pressures for binary (monomer/CO2, polymer/CO2) and ternary mixtures (monomer/polymer/CO2) were determined using a PVT cell equipped with two sapphire windows leading to the phase diagrams for these systems. Furthermore, initiators/CO2 mixtures were studied using infra-red spectroscopy techniques in supercritical conditions. Different interactions between the metal alkoxides and CO2 were evidenced. Other analytical methods were also used to identify the products of these interactions.
