La sédimentation fine sur une plate-forme interne actuelle macrotidale: la Baie de Seine sud-orientale (France)

Abstract :  Merci de fournir le tyThe fine sedimentation in the south-eastern Bay of the Seine (shoreface?to?inner shelf) is studied at different time-scales: from the Holocene clayey continental deposits (9000 years BP) to the present-day instantaneous event deposits linked to "estuarine floods". During these events, which follow prolonged weak river flows, the estuarine fine sediment stock and the SPM river-born material are mixed. Thus, veneers of fresh mud occur in this subtidal, opened sandy area. The sea-floor is commonly an erosional surface and relict clays crop out; a lithochronostratigraphical reconstruction of these holocene deposits is proposed. While at a multi-decade and -annual time-scale, silting of the sandy sediments has increased, on a seasonal time-scale, the sea-floor is affected by fine-grained sedimentation events; fresh muds are then reworked through processes which include waves and strong tidal currents.
