Premiers résultats de l'expérience HESS et étude du potentiel de détection de matière noire supersymétrique

Abstract : The array of imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes HESS (High Energy Stereoscopic System) is described. The simulation of atmospheric showers and of the detector is presented in detail and compared to the data obtained during the first six months of operation. The calibration and signal extraction methods are presented and applied to the data taken on the Crab nebula. A significant signal is obtained, and the measured differential flux at 1 TeV is in agreement with the results from other experiments in the same energy range. This analysis permits to estimate the potential of HESS for the detection of a gamma ray signal from neutralino annihilation in the galactic centre and in the globular cluster Omega Centauri. In this study, models of dark matter haloes are constrained with astrophysical observations.
