Les modes de la localisation et de propagation de la rupture dans les zones de failles affectant les grès, et les facteurs qui les contrôlent.

Abstract : Fields studies indicate that faults are not simply discrete slip surfaces but are surrounded by damaged zones where deformation is distributed forming the fault zone (FZ). FZ structure is important for understanding processes of fault growth i.e. the modes of localization and propagation of rupture. The combination of structural and statistical analyses of deformation objects at many scales permits to describe the internal structure of FZs affecting sandstones. The typology, modes of associations and structural object distribution indicate that both sandstone intrinsic parameters (porosity, cement) and external conditions (P,T) control the mechanisms of deformation. These mechanisms determine the geometry and development of ZFs, and consequently the fault behaviour regarding fluid pathways.
