Recherche de WIMPs par l'expérience EDELWEISS: caractérisation des détecteurs et analyse des données

Abstract : WIMPs (Weakly Interacting Massive Particles) could be one of the main components of Dark Matter, and thus represent a large part of the total Universe mass. They would be present at the galactic scale under the form of a halo.
Several experiments aim to detect WIMPs from our Galactic halo directly through their interactions in a target detector. Among these experiments, EDELWEISS has developed detectors called bolometers, based on the measurement of phonons produced by an energy deposit inside an absorber thermalized at very low temperature (around 10 mK). Charges created by the energy deposit are also collected in the EDELWEISS detectors. This double measurement allows a rejection of a large part of the background events associated with electronic interactions.
We present in this thesis the analysis of the data recorded with the first 320 grams bolometer used by the EDELWEISS collaboration.
We develop in particular a method allowing a determination of the fiducial mass of the detector. This method is based on a model for the charge collection processes, detector calibrations with 60Co and 252Cf radioactive sources and GEANT simulations of these calibrations.
We also parametrize the discrimination between electronic and nuclear recoils through calibrations with a neutron source, taking into account the bias induced by multiple interactions.
We finally present the analysis of the low-background physics run data for WIMPs search, and set a limit on the WIMP-nucleon diffusion cross-section.
