Diffusion Brillouin stimulée dans les fibres optiques : bruit d'intensité du laser et brûlage de trou spectral dans le générateur et l'amplificateur

Abstract : The work reported in this thesis is devoted to the intensity noise of the Brillouin fiber laser and to the spectral hole burning of stimulated Brillouin scattering in fibers. The intensity noise of Brillouin laser arises mainly from two sources: the fluctuations of the cavity reinjection rate and the intensity noise of the pump laser. The transfer fonctions relate the laser intensity noise to the fluctuations of these sources.A theoretical study of these two functions has been achieved and validated by experiments. Then, we show theoretically that the spectral hole burning, recently observed experimentally in Brillouin fiber amplifiers and generators, can be interpreted without invoking an inhomogeneous broadening of the Brillouin line. The hole burning is due both to the gain saturation and the coupling between the intensity fluctuations of the optical waves.
