Mesure des neutrinos solaires de la raie du béryllium dans l'expérience Borexino

Abstract : The Borexino experiment (BX), a collaboration involving nine countries, is located in the Gran Sasso underground laboratory, Italy. It aims to measure the solar neutrino flux from the beryllium line at 862 keV.
It will be the first real-time solar neutrino measurement at such low energies. This demands rigorous control of radiopurity. The technical feasibility is being studied with the prototype called the Counting Test Facility (CTF). The College de France group is responsible for the fast digitizer boards (FADC) on BX. The FADC were designed by our laboratory and completed at the beginning of 2002. Prototype and first industrial boards have been installed on CTF for tests and are currently operating wuth photomultipliers.
We developped FADC data acquisition software for CTF arid BX. For BX, we are using an online algorithm to reduce data flow, based on event coincidence detection and suppression of low energy events. We have been producing data with CTF since summer 2000, and with BX we have performed a variety of tests with the first air runs.
CTF analysis concerns just FADC data, and a joint analysis of FADC-based electronics with the standard system installed by the Italian team. One can reconstruct event energy and coincidences using FADC with a precision similar to the standard electronics. The parallel analysis shows the importance of using a single digitizing electronic train with no dead time in order to measure contamination in the detector, to analyse photomultiplier afterpulses and to discriminate between alpha and beta events. Furthemore, several discrimination methods are studied for BX with simulations.
