Electroproduction de photons et de pions sur le proton au quadrimoment de transfert Q^2 = 1.0 GeV^2. Mesure des sections efficaces et extraction des polarisabilités généralisées

Abstract : In hadronic physics, the nucleus structure and the quarks confinement are still topical issues. The neutral pion electroproduction and virtual Compton scattering (VCS) reactions allow us to access new observables that describe this structure. This work is focussed on the VCS experiment performed at Jefferson Lab in 1998. The 4 GeV electron beam is scattered of a cryogenic hydrogel target, and the scattered electron and recoiled proton are detected in coincidence in the twin hall A spectrometer. The photon (pion) is reconstructed using a missing particle technique. The data analysis allowed toi extract the cross sections relative toi both process at four-momentum transfer squared Q2=1 GeV2. The VCS cross section fias been extracted for the first time in the proton resonance region (W between 1.0 and 2.0 GeV) through the photon electroproduction reaction. Around the pion-production threshold up to the Delta(1232) resonance region, these results lead toi the mesurement of the generalized polarisabilities, that describe the proton structure in the same way as the elastic form factors. Moreover, the neutral pion electroproduction cross section mesurement in the resonance region has brought new constraints on the existing phenomenological models.
