Ties for the integral group ring of the symmetric group

Abstract : We give a description of the integral group ring of the symmetric group
ZS_n as a subring of a direct product of integral matrix rings via the
Wedderburn embedding. Modular morphisms give necessary conditions
on a tuple of integral matrices to be contained in the image of ZS_n.

Result 1: Construction of a system of modular morphism that give
a necessary and sufficient condition on such a tuple.

Result 2: A formula for a modular morphism of type "one-box-shift",
thus rendering a part of an existence result of Carter and Payne more precise.
