Potential Applications of Semiconductor Nanolasers in Particle Detection and Speckle-Free Illumination

Abstract : The self-spiking emission regime, which in nanolasers precedes continuous emission over a relatively broad pump range, offers a versatile tool for various kinds of applications. Its photon statistical properties can be used for sensing, while its low optical coherence renders the devices useful as illumination sources for special applications.
