Authentic speech versus exploited speech : the communicational power of blogs

The increase in the importance of blogs as a means of information and communication no longer needs to be demonstrated. Every day dozens of skyblogs are created, weekly chronicles on the radio are devoted to them, not to mention books, television programmes and press articles, both online and off. This rapidly spreading enthusiasm for this communicational tool of multiple uses has aroused the interests of players from different spheres (public, political, marketing, and institutional, etc.). Both an editorial and communicational system, the blog, through its ease of use and implementation, has imposed itself as an ideal medium for personal narrative, for the dissemination of "anthentic", "free" speech. ln this way, the production of personal texts online on blogs introduces, through the double effect of narration and advertising, uses and social practices that we are going to explore throughout this research work. A complex object, the blog is not just an onIine diary, but is made up of posts, links, comments, mies, etc. Likewise, it cannot be summed up as a form of communicational dialogue or the dissemination of information, but as a hybrid of technical systems that format interaction. Therefore, the fust section will analyse the construction process of the blog category as a communicational object in the public space on the Internet, with, to start with, a circumlocution of the notion of diary (logbook, private, online). The second section questions the development conditions, in an exploratory fashion, of a context favouring the exploitation ofblogs. Finally, the last section attempts, to set the limits of this environment favouring the use of authentic speech through the efficiency of identity strategies of the individual facing himself and others in an innovative collective space. From authentic speech 10 speech that is socially aware: the conclusion queries the conditions of a performative space in which the collective statement rnakes it possible to give concrete expression to actions in the real world
