The association of a chronic or acute hepatopathy and a renal insufficiency is usually burdened with a very important mortality. Peritoneal dialysis was until a recent date considered as ineffective in this case. The review of the literature on this pathology and its treatment using peritoneal dialysis, as well as the study of eight patients, however makes it possible to affirm that in its current methods peritoneal dialysis constitutes a substitute treatment of choice in the event of renal insufficiency at a patient suffering from a severe hepatopathy, that it is within the framework of the acute renal insufficiency or in that of the chronic renal insufficiency.
L'association d'une hépatopathie chronique ou aiguë et d'une insuffisance rénale est habituellement grevée d'une mortalité très importante. La dialyse péritonéale était jusqu'à une date récente considérée comme inefficace dans ce tableau. La revue de la littérature sur cette pathologie et son traitement à l'aide de la dialyse péritonéale, ainsi que l'étude de huit patients, permet pourtant d'affirmer que dans ses modalités actuelles la dialyse péritonéale constitue un traitement substitutif de choix en cas d'insuffisance rénale chez un patient souffrant d'une hépatopathie sévère, que ce soit dans le cadre de l'insuffisance rénale aiguë ou dans celui de l'insuffisance rénale chronique.
